Cybersecurity in 2023 and Beyond - What You Need to Know.

Cybersecurity Jun 01, 2023 1 Comment(s)

More than ever before, it is now clear that we are living in an era where our daily lives are dependent on technology for almost everything we do. Everything is becoming more and more connected to everything else. This has given rise to new technologies such as Cloud Computing and the Internet of Things (IoT). As if that is not enough, it is also predicted that the use of these technologies will increase as more people adopt them in their daily lives.

Moving forward, as the use of these new technologies continues to grow globally, both individuals and organisations will need to prioritize cybersecurity in 2023 and beyond. This includes specialised or customised cybersecurity training to equip employees with the necessary knowledge and skills to implement technology management solutions to protect themselves and the organisation they work for against cyber threats.

Drawing from over 15 years of academic research, teaching, and industry consultancy, I know of many organisations that still do not have well-established cybersecurity awareness training programs. Even worse, some organisations do not include cybersecurity awareness training during the onboarding process of new employees.

I have also witnessed many untrained individuals and employees that easily fell into the traps set by cybercriminals which then gave the criminals access to the organisation's valuable data and IT assets. Training employees on how to identify cyber-attacks as well as basic attack prevention measures is key and can save an organisation a lot of time and money, which could otherwise be used to investigate avoidable security incidents.

The Value of Cybersecurity Awareness Training?

  • Training prepares you or your organisation for different cybersecurity situations or incidents through relevant, knowledge, information, and skills needed to act.
  • Training also gives you or the organisation the power, authority, and confidence to invoke the right action to control and protect yourself and/or the organisation’s most valuable data and IT assets.
  • Continuous Training is encouraged as this means employees get even much stronger and more confident in taking the correct actions to thwart cyber-attacks.

How do you get Trained in Cybersecurity?

Anyone or any organization is a candidate for Cybersecurity Awareness Training. You can get Trained through:

  1. Cybersecurity Factual knowledge

This knowledge helps you to learn and master the terminologies, facts, and detailed cybersecurity information on how to solve cybersecurity problems. It can easily be obtained from formal education or any other professional training.

  1. Cybersecurity Experimental and/or Experiential knowledge

This is the practical experience or learning through experience knowledge gained through understanding and expertise in solving cybersecurity problems. This knowledge may not necessarily depend on factual knowledge but having factual knowledge can help in gaining experimental or experiential knowledge.

2023 and Beyond

Knowledge is power. For this reason, anyone, or any organization need to be equipped with Vital knowledge and skills through cybersecurity awareness training. There has never been a better time to train yourself or the members of your organization with cybersecurity knowledge and skills than now. Untrained organization employees can easily fall into the traps set by cybercriminals to get access to the organisation's valuable data and IT assets. Training employees on how to identify cyber-attacks as well as basic attack prevention measures is key.

Conclusion

The battle to remain cyber safe for both individuals and organisations is always not an easy one. People always wonder where to start from. If you find yourself or your organisation in a dilemma of not knowing what to do, you probably need help.

Let’s connect and discuss how best to personalise your cybersecurity awareness training experience. This includes Cybersecurity Factual knowledge Training as well as Cybersecurity Experimental and/or Experiential Knowledge Training.
